Limited Edition piece, hand inscribed #239/1250 on bottom. Impressed with Dave Fetty's personal signature stamp "DLF" on bottom. Original Fenton silver & black label as well as original stock no. In mint, like-new shape with no cracks, chips or repairs; not an overrun or second.
Very glossy finish, so difficult to photograph; what may appear to be white spots or flaws are reflections that my amateur photography skills couldn't avoid. Art glass pieces in David L. Fetty's Crayons collection began with a gather of Fenton's Aubergine glass on a blowpipe.
The molten glass was shaped & rolled in a carefully prepared mixture of multicolor frit (crushed glass). Fetty & his team experimented to perfect the combination of frit needed to produce the effect he wanted: 7 different colors ended up being used, including brown, orange, yellow, 2 shades of green & 2 different reds. The unique swirl effects were achieved through a process of heating & reheating the piece in the Fenton furnace, ensuring each was entirely unique.
